The civil name of Sfera Ebbasta is Gionatan and means «gift of god» in Hebrew. His mother gave him this name because she had a complicated pregnancy with him. The doctors were not sure if the little one was going to make it.
Sfera Ebbasta has no school-leaving certificate because he dropped out of high school. The same goes for his producer Charlie Charles: In five years of his school career, he changed schools four times without ever finishing one.
After he dropped out of school, Sfera delivered pizzas for around 7 euros an hour. He didn’t last long. Even his second job was no fun: Sfera worked briefly as an electrician. But since he had to get up at 5 am and was often late for work, he was fired. He constantly dreamt of a future as a musician. In the song «Notti» he makes his life story a central theme.

A friend shows Sfera a song: «Who’s that?» asks Sfera. «It’s me, I recorded it in my room», the friend replies. At this moment the spark ignited. This encounter was the beginning of a career that initially flopped on YouTube, but then only a few years later made Sfera one of the most famous faces on the Italian music scene.
5. Fun Fact:
Sfera is a big fan of Ed Sheeran and likes to listen to his songs. So, he also listens to pop ballads, but he makes hard traps himself. We are looking forward to his vibrant performance on July 12th at the Piazza Grande.
